What is the Purpose of Tail Lights?
The tail light assembly in a vehicle is composed of several components that serve various purposes. The primary component is the tail lamp, which is illuminated when the headlights are turned on. Its purpose is to make the vehicle visible to other drivers in low-light situations or at night. Stop lamps, also known as brake lights, activate when the driver applies the brakes, indicating to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down or coming to a stop.
Park lamps, which are often located within the same housing as the tail lamps, increase the visibility of a parked vehicle in low-light conditions. Finally, backup lamps, which activate when the driver shifts into reverse gear, illuminate the area behind the vehicle, helping the driver safely maneuver in reverse.
