How Does a Car Turn Signal Work?

A turn signal in a car is a collection of electrical and mechanical components that indicate the vehicle's turn direction. When engaged, the driver completes an electrical circuit and sends power to the turn signal relay. This relay powers the turn signal lights on the vehicle's corresponding side, which are coupled to a flashing mechanism that produces a blinking effect. This visual indication helps other drivers and pedestrians. Modern vehicles automatically cancel the turn signal after completing a turn or changing lanes using a mechanical mechanism linked to the steering column.
